The grades have been submitted to the Registrar and should be available Wednesday morning (the 22nd). As you know the final exam grades are available in the Gradebook. The final exam distribution is scaled to 100 (i.e. a factor of two). The grades were determined as noted on the Info page on the web. Additions are that the exams are performance weighted.... that is, the highest score is worth 120 points (scaled) and the lowest exam is worth 80 points (scaled). Also additional information supplied by the TAs were used in borderline situations. We hope you learned some physics during the semester, indeed, it comes very fast!
We also hope you have a relaxing and profitable vacation and wish you good luck in the future...

The final exam will be given at 0745 Wednesday the May 16 in Ingraham Hall (rooms listed on the exam page). For those who took the midterms in 3314 CH. the final will also be given in that room (same time as the scheduled exam). For those who have conflicts or the 24 hour rule applies, there is an alternate exam. Please e-mail Prof. Reeder for information.
Good luck!!

The exam rooms for the final have been assigned. Please see the Exams page for the discussion/lab assignments. Partial credit and regrading of Exam 3 have been completed and entered in the gradebook.

The deadline for full credit on homework 11 has been extended to Friday the 20th.

The TA's pointed out that confusion resulted from an uncorrected typo in the exam. On problem 16 the direction of the current was inconsistent. I have regraded the problem and all those who marked answer b will also get full credit. Indeed, there was also a difficulty with the key for problem 8. Somehow I entered the wrong answer in the key and it propogated around. Everything is now fixed! Sorry!

At the intervention of the TA's. I have extended the deadline for completion of the homework set due on Monday the 19th to Friday the 23rd with no penalty. However, there will be no further extension.

You will all be happy that I found a typo in one of the scripts in the grade book. I have checked the next ones and all seems OK, I have rescored the homework 3 and it seems to have awarded credit. As far as I know, we are up to date. If there are continued problems, let me know. Sorry about the mistake and thanks for the many inquiries. Don Reeder

There seems to be a widespread misinterpretation of the procedure and the functioning of the grading program for the homework. To quote from the homework instructions (to be found on the Homework page):
"The gradebook tracks your total score on each problem. (It does not record credit at the level of individual questions.) If you have less than full credit for a problem and are trying to track down the cause, go to the problem itself and check for questions for which no asterisk is displayed to the far right on the line on which the input box for that question appears. These are questions on which you do not yet have credit. (If all questions are marked by asterisks, a reduced problem score is due to questions having been answered after the full-credit deadline for the problem.)"
The actual entry in the gradebook will be made at the scheduled time for completion (Monday the 12th for homework 3) The asterisks will track those problems for which you will receive credit. the up side of this is that only the last entry is graded, so you can change your answer until the deadline without penalty.

I am sorry that there was an error on the discussion page. The time of Discussion 627 (Brandon Hodis) was incorrectly listed. The discussion will be held as noted in the timetable as at 1100 am in 2124 Chamberlin. The Discussion page is now corrected.

Despite the rumors to the contrary, you should attend the discussion sessions on Monday the 22nd of January. You can find your room meet your TA and begin to learn about problem solving.
