EXTRA CREDIT: You can recieve 5 class points of extra credit for attending this Friday's Physics Colloquium (Upham 140, 4-5pm) on Nanotechnology by David Grierson (UW-W undergraduate). A half-page summary of what you learned by Monday will earn you the 5 points. Those of you who can't come can earn extra credit by writing a page on two commercial uses of nanotechnology.

Note: For the exam, I will
let you bring in one 8.5x11 sheet of paper with any formulae, notes, examples,
etc. that you want to write on it. (On Friday, I will give you a "recommended"
list of formulae, as well as a review lecture.) To study, you should look over
the preflight questions and in-class questions given as part of the lecture.
You should also review the homework problems. But the best advice I can
give you is to practice solving actual exam problems using the on-line
practice exams from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign.

PICK UP CLICKERS: The clickers are now available at Textbook
Rental. After you pick them up, you MUST register them with
your name/ID number on line at the following website: http://clickers.uww.edu . Your
Net ID and password are the University ID/password, and not
necessarily the one for this course. The six digit ID for the clicker
that you will need to enter (which may have both letters and numbers)
is found on the back of your clicker unit, just below the bar
code. Detailed instructions are in this PDF
document .
9/14/2005 CLASS SURVEY DUE: Note that a class survey is due by Monday 8
AM; this is a combination of demographic quesitons as well as some
pre-class knowledge questions. Allow at least an hour to answer all of
the questions.
9/14/2005 COURSE WEBSITE UP::
The course website is FINALLY up and running; try poking around and finding things. The lectures are available on-line, in addition to the preflights and homework for September.
To log onto the class system you will
need a NetID and password. Your UWW e-mail name, without the "@uww.edu"
part, is your NetID, and your 7 digit University ID number is your password.
Try logging in as soon as possible, and e-mail
me if you are having trouble. Please fill out the class survey and pick up the course clickers by Monday morning. Instructions on how to activate the clickers are here.
