The final exam scores for the Saturday exam have been posted in the gradebook as well. The curve was kept the same, so the table below may help you interpret your curved score.

Since we cannot post answer strings for the hand-graded Saturday exam, we will not post any answer strings for the final.

The Thursday exam and solutions have been posted on the Practice Exams page.

I have seen hundreds of thousands of answers scanned by this machine with never a single known error. The probability of the machine having made an error with your answer sheet is therefore vanishly small.

The midterm exam rooms have been posted on the Hour Exam Schedule page.  Read the General Instructions on this page so you know what to expect.

You will need your lab section number (a number from 301 to 330) and your 10-digit UW Student ID number to fill out your answer sheet.

The first midterm exam will take place at 5:45 PM Thursday, October 5.

IMPORTANT: Since the officially scheduled final exam time is the afternoon of Dec. 23, and we know this will pose a hardship on many of you who want to begin your semester break earlier than that as well the TAs who need to be present when grades are assigned, we are planning to reschedule the final to the alternative time offered by the registrar of Thursday, Dec. 21 7:45 - 9:45 AM. We wish to know if this will cause a conflict. In order to do this we must have a signed response from each of you indicating whether you can take the final at the alternative time. If too many students have a conflict, we will keep the exam as officially scheduled, so please consider your fellow students as well. The form at the bottom of this message (provided here for your information only) will be distributed in your first discussion section and collected in your second discussion section.

Read the
Syllabus; it tells about on-line assigned work, and it will tell you how to get the best grade in this course.

If you have trouble logging in to do the on-line assignments, see the login
Help page, and read it carefully, before you email anyone to ask for help.

The
Planner page is a calendar which has links to assignments ON THEIR DUE DATES (not on the assignment dates) to help you keep track.

Check the
News page (this page) for announcements, like when exam scores are posted.

The
Course Info page has links to the syllabus and a lot of other info, about TA's, schedules, exams, and more.

You will probably want to bookmark the main
Physics 103 web page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TA's are never under any circumstance allowed to cancel classes of any kind. If your TA cancels a class and you do not attend it, you will not receive credit for it. If a class is really canceled, you will hear about it from me, one of the professors, or someone in the Physics Department office.

Welcome to Physics 103 for the Fall 2006 semester. If you were registered by the 23rd of August, you should be able to log in with your 10 digit UW Student ID as both your login and password. You can change your password on the Gradebook page. If you have difficulty, please follow the instructions on the login Help page.

Although students can attend either lecture section, we encourage students to attend in the lecture section they are registered for, or to attend the second lecture if possible, as the first lecture tends to be crowded. If you are concerned that the first lecture (1:20 MW) is full and you cannot attend the second lecture, go ahead and register for the second lecture (2:25 MW) and plan to attend the first.

Please browse the web pages. Much of the course work will rely on the web for feedback and information. Therefore, it is mandatory that you are familiar with it. In particular, get familiar with the Planner that you will use to keep track of course activity (work and deadlines). Also read the Syllabus page for an overview of the course. The page also gives details about the course rules and structure, suggests outside resources and tells about exams and grading. We will have class participation in lecture, so come prepared to think and learn.
