Physics 103 Required
Materials
Written Materials:
- Textbook: College Physics, Seventh
Edition,
Raymond A. Serway and Jerry S. Faughn (Brooks/Cole). The Sixth Edition will also do. The
chapters have the same content, but there are some new problems in
the new edition, and some of the old ones are no longer there. The 7th
edition is available in two versions, a conventional bound version and
a less expensive loose-leaf version. If you buy the loose-leaf
version, be advised that the bookstore will not buy your used copy when
you are done with it.
- Laboratory: Physics 103 Laboratory
Manual (Available at the University Book
Store). You must have the current
edition (Fall 2005-2006) of this book. Also, you should have a
lab notebook, preferably the spiral
bound kind that contains graph paper (1/4" squares). If you have one
from another course that still has plenty of blank space in it, you can
use it.
Calculator:
To help solve homework and exam problems you will need some kind of
scientific calculator (i.e. one that can
calculate sines, cosines, tangents, find square roots, etc., in addition
to having the usual arithmetic functions).
